Back to Basics Cooking School
This is wonderful!! Alex and I are going to do an on line cooking class called Back to Basics Cooking School that starts this week. It's a 14 week program that allows you to cook at your own pace! This is a great way to freshen up on your cooking skills or just plain old learn how to cook! Alex and I are both excited (I'm sure me more then him!!) My goal is to make him more self sufficient. One day I want him to be able to step into the kitchen without asking ME what is their to eat. Now that would be nice!! Thanks Shelley at Back to Basics Cooking for your help. Watching you on the computer makes Alex seem to listen more closely then when I try to teach him in the kitchen. Go figure...

Shool Bus Safety
Yesterday at Alex's school they celebrated School Bus Safety Week. This is a yearly opportunity for the young kids to meet the bus drivers, check out the bus, go through the emergency exits, etc. Alex wanted to ride the bus with the big kids since kindergarten.( He never went to preschool, since the thought of being away from him all day was just too stressful to me:> )I drove him the entire 3/4 of a mile to school that first year. By the way, what ever happened to WALKING to school? Anyways, since first grade he has had the same bus driver. His name is Mr. Jimmy. Alex is now in the fourth grade. In the last four years, dear Mr. Jimmy has never been late, never been sick, and has even knocked on our door to return things that our sometimes forgetful Alex left in his seat. God bless Mr. Jimmy. Not only do I trust him with our precious son, I admire the dedication and love that he has for these little folks. That to me is what School Bus Safety is all about- someone who cares for a child as if they were their own!!
Chubbie Chica
I have just found a really amazing blog called Chubbie Chica. All of the recipes are designed for folks like me who are trying to eat healthy. The recipes include the Point System from Weight Watchers- although I personally have never tried Weight Watchers. It is quite obvious that Chubbie Chica spends a lot of time and effort putting together a wonderful, healthy weekly meal plan. I have just spent over an hour scouring all the helpful hints and recipes she has listed. This is a blog that I will certainly return to weekly!

The Thrifty Divas
The Thrifty Divas is a really fun site to check out. They offer a lot of links to free printable coupons, free offers, and information on how to join consumer panels. It is one of those sites that I check out each morning because you never know what you might find! I was recently the winner of one of their giveaways. It was this Honey Kix Cereal gift pack that contained a free coupon for a box of Kix, a really cute container that holds milk and cereal that Alex can take to school for a snack, a large cereal storage container, and also a honey comb! It was awesome! I was shocked to win! They are now having another Yoplait Yogurt giveaway, so head over and check them out! Like I said, you never know what to expect!!

Money Saving Ideas
This has got to be one of my favotie sites. It is filled with tons of ideas for cooking meals for under or around $5.00 for the entire family. The meals are very easy to follow, contain gluetin free, vegetarian options, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The site also utilizes ways to incorporate stock piled foods and fresh grown produce into each recipe. Check it out!
Couponizer
The Couponizer is a wonderful way to keep your coupons handy and organized when going shopping. I have been using one for years! I have had so many people ask where I got it! I don't know how I ever lived without one. My husband actually bought it for me from a lady he works with that was selling them. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had married the perfect husband! The Couponizer has many great features that help keep everything right in a handy little container- coupon stacker( just spread it on the table, place coupons in the marked category) a plastic holder for customer loyalty cards, a slot for coupons to be used that trip, a slot for coupons to give the cashier, a slot for coupons that expire that month, and many many more great features. I HIGHLY recommended it, and have given many as gifts myself!!
